This piece was created live while I was teaching/guiding art students through a series of alla prima paintings. I set up this unique still life for the students to look at. there were so many different objects, crystal glasses, vases, a mug, a fake mannequin hand, etc.

I was particularly drawn to the coke bottle. When I was younger, my dad collected coke bottles, and then I began to collect them when I was 16. I had them all lined up on a high shelf, collecting dust, for years. When I moved out of my parent’s house, I left them all behind. Painting the coke bottle brought up that feeling of nostalgia and connectedness.
